How I Work

I offer a warm, non-judgmental and honest relationship within professional boundaries to support you to develop and grow.

As an integrative therapist and counsellor, I have been trained to develop my own approach to the practice of psychotherapy, drawing on a range of different therapeutic models and ways of working according to your individual and changing needs, which can include the following:

  • Illustration of a brown oak leaf.

    Psychodynamic

Understanding how past experiences have shaped us can allow us to achieve greater self-acceptance and a sense of peace and freedom. I draw on psychodynamic and attachment-based approaches to support you to heal from defensive patterns and deep wounds.

    Relational

I work with the relational dynamics that emerge between us, exploring with you new ways of relating and also how patterns from the past may re-emerge in the present.

    Mindfulness-based

I draw on mindfulness-based approaches to support you to develop an embodied sense of what is happening in the present moment. This can deepen your emotional awareness and connection with others.

    Somatic & trauma-informed

I use body-based methods to help you contact and release trauma.  Through exploring feelings and listening to your body you can begin to experience greater ease and inner harmony.

    Positive psychology

I will support you to change ingrained patterns and habits, drawing on modern neuroscience and ancient wisdom, to allow you to become happier and enjoy more satisfying relationships.

Diversity

I draw on a deep understanding of diversity and difference to explore with you how your culture, ethnicity and racial identity have shaped you, as well as your family history. I work affirmatively with people of different sexual orientations and also with people who identify as neuro- or gender- diverse or have a disability.

I work with people of all faiths and none. Whatever your faith I will support you to discover what most nourishes you and offers you the potential for experiencing deeper meaning in your life. This may include a spiritual dimension if this feels helpful and relevant for you.

About Me

My name is Kiranasri. I am a qualified integrative psychotherapist and counsellor with seven years’ experience working with clients. I trained for five years in psychotherapy and counselling at the Minster Centre. My approach draws on a range of psychotherapeutic models, tailored to each person’s unique needs and circumstances.

Previously, I worked as a journalist and at a senior level in the voluntary sector with carers, young people unable to live with their birth parents due to serious family difficulties and also with people with mental health difficulties or learning disabilities. These roles allowed me to observe the capacity for people to grow and flourish within caring and supportive relationships, often overcoming huge difficulties in their early lives.

Challenges in relationships led me both to Buddhism and training as a therapist. Through this journey, I have discovered a new sense of wholeness and meaning in my life. I have experienced healing at a deeper level than I had believed was possible.

I am an ordained Buddhist and have been practising meditation and mindfulness for over twenty years. I draw on these ancient approaches to growth and personal development in my work with clients, supporting you to become more integrated and connected with your own innate wisdom.

I work as a psychotherapist and counsellor in private practice and have also worked in community counselling services. I offer therapy to people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.

I have a postgraduate diploma (PGDip) in integrative psychotherapy and counselling from Middlesex University. I also hold an MSc in Social Policy from the London School of Economics and a BA (Hons) in Psychology from the University of Sheffield. I am a registered member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow their professional codes of ethics.
